16 attended and began the match in bright sunshine. Dave Springett got the ball rolling with a 16 lb 8 oz pike after only 10 mins. Surely game over for the rest of us already.
Despite the conditions, 6 pike came to the bank in the first hour, 2 in the second, then had to wait until the 5th hour of the match when 3 more came out in quick succession. Jack Andrews had 3 pike and was only a small fish away from taking the lead. Defending champion, Phil Watts, bagged one with minutes to go but fell short of a placing.
A few fish were lost at the net and several had dropped runs but overall it was a decent match. Dave Springett held on for victory and won his second match in 4 years.
1st David Springett 1 fish @ 16 lb 8 oz
2nd Jack Andrews 3 fish for 14 lbs 8 oz
3rd Lee Andrews 2 for 12 lbs 2 oz
Biggest fish outside top 3 was Phil Watts @ 4 lbs 11 oz.
