Braxted Back Lake

Depths to 18 ft this little gem has it all, deep margins, overhanging bushes, big weed beds, gravel bars, silt pockets. Within its beautiful clear water lurk some of the most sort after commons in Essex. Two carp go 40 lbs+ with one of them having topped 50lb+ at the right time of the year. Normal weight is 45-48 lbs, There is also a good head of 30 lbs+ carp.  Good quality boilies can be the winning method along with good location. Also present are a number of specimen Tench which hang around the 7-9 lb mark but have been out over the magical 10lb. There are a number of smaller specimens which thrive in this rich environment.

The Back Lake can also give a good days float fishing with Roach to 2 lb, perch to 3 lbs, bream to 7 lbs, rudd and plenty of eels.

A large padded unhooking mat is advisable for this lake to protect these beautiful creatures.

 1. Take the exit toward Gt. Braxted/Silver End 

 2. Turn right at Henry Dixon Rd

 3. Continue onto Braxted Rd (0.7 mi)

 3. Turn right into Commodity Centre drive up to barrier which will open automatically. 

 4. Follow track to car park. Drive slowly.
